The grant’s main purpose will be to support the future growth of Ecofest and ensure that the program is ever expanding to include both old favourites and new interactive kids entertainment. Ecofest 2017 saw an amazing turn out by the people of the Gladstone Region! For the first time we had an accurate count and breakdown of attendees, our audience! Between 9am to 1.30pm 4747 people walked through the gates of the Tondoon Botanic Gardens and participated in all that Ecofest offers. Meteors Sports Club raised in excess of $1800 in parking fees. 63% of our audience were from the Gladstone area while 23% of our audience were from the Boyne/Tannum area. Our biggest audience came from Young Families whose children are under 12 with 50.98% of the total audience identifying as this group with the next largest group being Self/Couples being 28.29% of the audience. Feedback received from Survey’s conducted at Ecofest 2017 identified that the audience most enjoyed the following aspects – • Making kids aware of the environment, • Low stress, easy family day with fun activities for the kids, • Kids Entertainment – animals/turtles and the Amazing Drumming Monkey’s. If successful this grant will be used toward a new element in the kids’ entertainment/interactive experience. This will be advised as planning for the 2018 Ecofest is still in very early stages.
